MonoCup Final in Portoroz

Summer conditions for SeaScape 18's at MonoCup Final in Portoroz, Slovenia

Once again, Portorož vas a venue for a Seascape gathering, this time at the last Monocup regatta of the season that took part on the 18th-19th of October.  No one could have wished a better weather for the last event of the year – sunny days with up to 25 degrees and just about enough wind for 14 teams enjoying the weekend.

Like we have seen many times this season, light wind was the sailors main challenge. 14 Seascape 18 teams – including Wingscape - did 6 races in two days in 4-8 knots of wind. Apart from our regular courses, on Saturday we had a pleasure of joining the first edition of a regatta for small boats called Everybody go sailing. A beautiful idea to gathered all the small boats on the same starting line – from Optimist’s, Lasers, 29er’s…to Fireballs and Seascapes, from the youngest ones to the Olympic sailors and sailing veterans on their favorite small boat.
Start of MonoCup Final 2014
Surprise of the day was the return of our adventures, Michael and Johanna. After sailing the rivers and seas, they finished their amazing 3000 miles journey joining us on the race field, doing one more final round with the Seascapers.

All teams spent a beautiful evening together playing interesting games –the sailors proved there skills on many different fields, from balancing to painting. And the Seascape team won the first place! Party continued all through the night in one of the most popular Portorož clubs.
Upwind Sailing
Sunday racing continued with Jerman family leading the fleet. This time Alenka and Urban decided to try their luck with Dejan Presen on the helm. And it proved to be a winning combination! Peter Bratuša and Marjan Bogovič were closely behind them, winning the second place and Mastodont’s on the third place only one point behind the second.

With this last regatta behind us we put all the numbers together and got the Monocup sailing results for 2014. Even though they were not on the winning throne for the last few events, Bohemia Apple with Robert Vysata on the helm had amazing results during the year and won the Monocup Trophy for 2014. The most amazing sailing family did not miss a single regatta this year and won a second place on Monocup 2014. Congratulations to the Jerman family. The third place went to the Seascape Team.
