SeaScape 18 Slovenian Open Championship

During the first part of this sailing season, Seascapers started from Portorož in April, then continued to the beautiful Austrian lake, Traunsee. After challenging regatta on Traunsee, with a lot of wind shifts and weather changes, MonoCup returned to sunny Portorož.

Before preparing the boats for summer vacations, Seascapers gathered one more time to join Slovenian Open Championship. Like every year, we had teams coming from all over the Europe: Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Italia, Croatia and Slovenia.

Friday was the day for assembling the boats, training, testing new sails and figuring the best strategy for the upcoming regatta.
And it was a good one too!

Saturday started with light wind, slightly increasing up to about 8-10 knots during the day. This was a perfect day for double handed crews. After 4 sailed regattas, the fleet sneaked back into marina, just before the summer rain storm.

Traditionally, Saturday evening is not meant to be spent in the apartment, discussing the tactics for the next day - party at Alaya is a must! Club on the beach, good music and cocktails! The party goes on until the morning!
Sunday’s Bura with 15 knots gusting up to 25, brought even more excitement to the event. The first start was a bit tricky for most of the teams, but when it comes to flying downwind, everybody were just surfing. Stronger wind conditions were much better for heavier crews, even though the shorthanded ones were fighting all the way.

With our dear guests coming all the way from Germany, team Cubito, Capiranha from Austria, Bohemia Apple from Czech Republic as regular competitors, we are glad to have new teams joining. Team Italia was in Portorož for the first time and after just four days of sailing on Seascape, they did amazing 6th place. Family crews are always a part of Seascape events. This time Lenčina and Corna had a close duel!

Bohemia Apple won overall once again with Slovenian champions sailing Boty on the second place. Team Bullitt did a great job and took the third place overall.

Small racing machines are now transforming into fun and cozy cruising boats. MonoCup Sailing wishes you a great summer vacations on your favorite boat.

See you soon in Izola!
